Valley Fire & Rescue is a 100% volunteer, all hazards response agency located in Apple Grove, West Virginia. Our 25 members protect 118 square miles of Southern Mason County, West Virginia.
Our volunteers provide fire protection and rescue services to 5,500 community members in the Apple Grove, Ashton, Glenwood, Gallipolis Ferry, Pliny, Upland, Frazier’s Bottom, and Milton communities of West Virginia.
We meet each Monday evening at 7PM to conduct business, training, maintenance, and other tasks. Feel free to stop in and meet our team. If you are interested in joining us, stop by to pickup an application or fill one out online.
In 1973 a group of locals decided we needed fire & rescue services in our community. They banded together and formed Ohio Valley Volunteer Fire Department. Although we are now Valley Fire & Rescue, we have continually provided services to the community we call home for over 50 years.
Until 1996 we provided EMS as well as fire & rescue services. Mason County EMS was formed in 1996 and absorbed our EMS response area. In 2020 we began the long and extensive process of becoming first responders for EMS again. We hope this process is complete in the coming months.
